Scott Kull can be reached via email at s.kull@tcu.edu or in his office at (817) 257-5349.
Kull is the sport administrator for 10 of TCU's athletics teams (men's and women's indoor and outdoor track & field, men's and women's cross country, men's and women's golf, and men's and women's swimming and diving). He supervises a staff of 40 that includes coaches as well as marketing, media relations, the ticket office and spirit groups. He also serves as the liaison to TCU's ISP Sports office. A grassroots sales approach has resulted in TCU setting all-time highs in season-ticket sales and revenue for football, baseball, soccer and volleyball. With a 2006 home game versus Texas Tech, the Horned Frogs posted their first football sellout in 22 seasons. The seven-year, multi-million dollar ISP contract that was negotiated in 2006 has seen sales revenue more than double in the last year with 52 new sponsors secured. In each of the last three years, TCU has also established new records in licensing revenues. The development and ticket offices instituted a Frog Club priority points system for road football and bowl games. A member of TCU's Management Team, Kull was instrumental in the procurement of $2.3 million in video boards and LED displays for the Frogs' home venues in football, basketball, track and field, swimming and diving, soccer, volleyball and tennis. The TCU sports under Kull's direction have seen success in the classroom and on the playing fields. Eight of the 10 sports have team grade-point averages over 3.0. In addition, eight sports have been represented in NCAA postseason play with women's golf and women's outdoor track and field capturing Mountain West Conference championships. There's also been a national championship as Jackson Langat won the 800 meters at the 2006 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships. Kull is active on campus in integrating the TCU faculty with athletics. In conjunction with ISP, he developed the Inspirational Professor Award as voted on by TCU students. He is one of five athletics department representatives on Staff Assembly while also serving on the University's Marketing and Communications Committee. Working with members on campus has led to the development of a new departmental video position funded as a partnership between athletics and TCU's College of Communication. This new relationship, which will enhance and streamline TCU's video board operations, will also provide a laboratory for students in communications. With FSU, Kull held the position of associate athletics director for marketing and general manager of Seminole athletics marketing. As the director of the Seminole athletics marketing office, Kull oversaw all aspects of advertising sales, promotions, tickets sales, corporate sponsorships and coaches' endorsements for the university's 20 sports. Kull originally moved to Tallahassee in 1997 to become the director of athletics marketing. Two years later, he was asked by FSU Director of Athletics Dave Hart to create a plan establishing a new partnership with Host Communications (now IMG Collegiate), one of the nation's leading collegiate sports marketing companies. In 1999, Kull was named the general manager of Host Communications and director of marketing for Seminole athletics marketing. He was promoted to assistant athletics director for marketing and general manager of Seminole athletics marketing during summer 2004 and associate athletics director in 2005. Kull is recognized for his proven approach to implementing creative sales and promotional prospects. At Florida State, he sold the first collegiate football sideline headset deal with Alltel and oversaw the creation of Seminole Village, which provides fans with interactive entertainment at home games as well as additional opportunities for advertisers. Kull also developed a plan to add a state-of-the-art video board/scoreboard to Florida State's $10 million baseball stadium renovation project. In his last two years at Florida State, the marketing staff earned 10 national sports marketing awards and was responsible for increased sales revenues by landing millions of dollars in athletic advertising contracts. Prior to joining the FSU staff, Kull worked in the athletics departments for several other nationally recognized universities, including Florida, Ohio State and Georgia Tech. He earned his bachelor's degree in business and organizational communications from Otterbein College, where he played football and was a member of the track & field team. The native of New London, N.H., earned his master's degree in sport management from The Ohio State University. |
