Frogs tied for second after the first day of shooting

West Point, N.Y.- The TCU woman's rifle team finds itself tied for second place at the NCAA National Championship with defending champions Alaska-Fairbanks after the first day of competition. The frogs amassed a score of 2,312 points in smallbore with one more day of competition remaining. The match's host, Army sits atop of the leader board with a score of 2,318.
Emily Paper led the team in day one with a score of 581. The rest of the Frogs followed suit with equally impressive scores. Erin Lorenzen fired a score of 579 while Lauren Sullivan and Simone Riford tallied 578 and 574 points, respectively.
The national championship will be concluded with air rifle on Saturday. During the regular season the team has turned in very strong scores in air rifle. The Purple and White hope to improve on what has already been a phenomenal competition and return back to Fort Worth with a national championship.
After the air rifle competition is concluded, the NCAA will also announce the year's All-American shooters. Last year Simone Riford, Lauren Sullivan, and Erin Lorenzen earned All-American accolades.
